The Reading Group meet approx every six weeks, if you are interested in joining please ring Pauline on 928 5625. Our next meeting is on Thursday 23 February when we will be discussing:
“The Curious Incident of the Dog in The Night-time" - Mark Haddon
A
murder mystery novel like no other. The detective, and narrator, is
Christopher Boone. Christopher is fifteen and has Asperger's
Syndrome. He knows a very great deal about maths and very little about
human beings. He loves lists, patterns and the truth. He hates
the colours yellow and brown and being touched. He has never gone
further than the end of the road on his own, but when he finds a neighbour's
dog murdered he sets out on a terrifying journey which will turn his whole
world upside down.
The books we have read so far are:
The Island, Gentlemen and Players, The Divide, Restless, The Testament of Gideon Mack, The Kite Runner, The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox, The Shadow of the Wind, The Visible World, The Ghost, Resistance, No Time for Goodbye, A Small Part of History, The Outcast, A Carrion Death, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, A Secret Alchemy, The Piano Teacher, Too Close to Home, Past Imperfect, Summer School, The Book Thief, Before the Storm, The Message, Under This Unbroken Sky, For One More, The Winter Vaults, The First Apostle, Noah's Compass, Sister, Witness the Night, You're Next, The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets, Telling Tales , Goodnight Beautiful , The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The Hollow and The Water Horse.
